The structure was and is part of the property that includes Villa Scorzi, was born as a winter shelter for potted citrus plants (more precisely the oranges, hence the name). The Nymphaeum refers to the ancient pool, the focal point of the farmhouse, where the noble owners of the Villa kept fish farms, to use them in their sumptuous banquets.
